Vincent
Chelkowski
took his loves of Greek mythology and music, combined them,
and conceived and began
working on SOUL after graduating in 1999.
Lacking
free time and dialogue
writing experience, work on SOUL was slow at first. “Longing”
was completed that year, and
a few other concept songs were written, to be later scrapped.
Progress on the show was slow
for several years, until Vince made the acquaintance of
local theatre operator and director Sean Michael O’Donnell. Sean has written numerous plays,
performed throughout Pittsburgh and in New York City, receiving much regional
recognition for his playwriting. The meeting seemed perfect, and after Vince pitched SOUL
to Sean, Sean agreed to sign on. Since then, life has had its way of disrupting progress, but
SOUL gained momentum, with dialogue and songs being worked on simultaneously.
Sean took on the role of script, and Vince that of music, but often the lines have blurred.
